Enron by Lucy Prebble
We're delighted to announce the audition and production dates for our next play, Enron by Lucy Prebble: 8 - 14 March 2026 - directed by Matt Owen, assistant directed by Elizabeth Holden.
Here, in the beating heart of the economic world: America. In the heart of America, Texas. And in the heart of Texas, Houston. There was a company.
In 2001 the world saw the largest corporate bankruptcy so far, as energy giant Enron collapses with $74 billion in losses and 90,000 employees losing their jobs. Enron, lauded icon of the future, leaves a swathe of destruction that sends shockwaves across the world. 3000 boxes of evidence, 1800 interviews, 5 years of court cases and decades of prison sentences handed down, and the FBI finally pieced together the story of the largest corporate malfeasance case in human history. Every so often, someone comes along and tries to change the world. We just hope that when the smartest minds come together, they’re not just doing it for themselves.
The millennium rises, and a Texan giant falls.

There is no need to prepare anything in advance. Everyone will be asked to read a variety of different roles and sections. The important thing is a chemistry between the cast and a willingness to bring the characters to life. No-one is getting judged on their accent skills, but there will be a requirement for an American accent for the majority of speaking roles, owing to the setting. We will offer training and guidance to help all of the cast. The ensemble and multi-role parts will be involved in some physical theatre and so a willingness to learn movement sequences would be beneficial.
If you would find it helpful to have the audition sections in advance, or have any questions about any of the roles, please do get in touch with the director, Matt Owen, and he will be happy to help.
Please note that the most important thing for us when casting a play is that we tell a great story and that all our cast enjoy being part of it. We aim to be fully inclusive, casting on how we feel actors show the character, and not on appearance or accent. We encourage people of all backgrounds to audition for the parts they would most enjoy, and not just those they feel they are 'right' for. Read more.
Crew
Anyone who has an interest or desire to get involved backstage will be welcomed with open arms. Please get in touch if there is a role you’d like explore or you’d just like to get involved! This will be a tech-heavy production with lighting, sound and projections as well as stage crew required.
Rehearsals
Rehearsal will start straight after the casting, with a read-through and at least three rehearsals before Christmas. Owing to the sheer size of the play, and the earlier that normal production week, it is going to be an intensive rehearsal process. We will therefore need to understand your availability to commit to the rehearsal schedule before casting. Alongside the below, there will be at least four Saturday/Sunday rehearsals across January and February. Rehearsals generally take place at either United Reformed Church, East Dulwich Grove, London SE22 8RH or St Barnabas Parish Hall, 23 Dulwich Village, London SE21 7BT.
Readthrough: 24th November
Rehearsals:
2nd December
9th December
11th December
And then every Tuesday and Thursday from w/c 5th January 2026.
